Overview

LDS has provided high quality OS/2 based solutions since 1992. It looks like this tradition will not end anytime soon. LDS is now partnered with the developers of eComStation (eCS) which is the continuation of the IBM OS/2 product line. Following is our standard workstation preload proposal which serves as a great starting point to fine tune a system which will meet and exceed your organization's OS/2 requirements.

Parallels Workstation, a Virtual Machine (VM) software application, is being utilized to allow OS/2 to run on top of the Linux operating system. Running OS/2 in a VM environment isolates OS/2 from the actual hardware. Ubuntu Linux has native device driver support for the latest hardware while Parallels has a stable and consistent virtual hardware platform and device drivers that work with OS/2 eCS. We chose this path, and are continuing to preload the 1.2R version of eCS rather than implementing eCS 2.0 which targets installing OS/2 eCS directly on the latest hardware.

IBM's old OS/2 ad's from 1992 ring true today... "It runs your DOS programs, your Windows programs, and your OS/2 programs" with the added bonus that you may run Linux applications as well!
